Virgo season asked us to slow down and take stock. Now, on September 11th, the sky offers us something quieter but just as powerful: a new moon at 18 degrees Virgo, arriving in the early morning hours and marking the only Virgo new moon we’ll see this year. If our last conversation together was about noticing what needed refining, this one is about actually planting something new in that cleared space.
Why This New Moon Feels Different
New moons are traditionally the start of a cycle, a dark sky before the light returns, and this one lands squarely within Virgo’s territory of detail, service, and steady improvement. Where the full moons ask us to release and celebrate, new moons ask us to whisper an intention quietly enough that only we and the universe can hear it. Because this is a Virgo new moon specifically, it favors intentions that are small, practical, and rooted in the body rather than sweeping declarations that fizzle out the following week.
Think of it less as a grand resolution and more as a single seed pressed into soil. You don’t need to know exactly how it will grow. You just need to give it a place to take root.
Refinement, Continued
If you’ve been sitting with the idea of refinement since our last post, this new moon is the moment to turn that reflection into action. Refinement isn’t about overhauling your life. It’s about small, deliberate adjustments made consistently, the kind Virgo energy handles best.
Here’s how that might look across the different ways we work together:
• In the body, refinement might mean adjusting one small habit in how you move, rather than committing to an entirely new routine overnight.
• In the energetic field, refinement might mean noticing which thoughts or tensions you’re ready to release, and setting a quiet intention to let them soften rather than forcing change.
• In your relationship with animals, refinement might mean paying closer attention to the small signals your companion already gives you, rather than waiting for a dramatic breakthrough in understanding.
Each of these is a version of the same practice: choosing precision over grand gestures, and trusting that small, consistent care compounds over time.
A Simple New Moon Ritual
You don’t need anything elaborate to work with this energy. On the night of September 10th into the morning of September 11th, find a few quiet minutes. Write down one intention, something specific and small enough that you could realistically tend to it in the coming weeks. Fold the paper and place it somewhere you’ll see it, a nightstand, a mirror frame, a journal you return to often.
Resist the urge to write five intentions. Virgo energy rewards focus. Choose the one that feels most alive right now, the one thread you’re most ready to pull.
What Comes Next
This new moon is quiet by design. It won’t announce itself the way a full moon does. But if you plant something now, in these final days of Virgo season, you’ll likely notice it beginning to take shape by the time we reach the next full moon later this month. Refinement is rarely loud. It’s the steady work of paying attention, adjusting gently, and trusting the process.
Take this moment to ask yourself: What is the one small thing I’m ready to tend to right now? Then let the quiet of this new moon hold that intention until it’s ready to grow.
